COOKE RESERVE WETLANDS

Public BBQ

I stumbled upon Cooke Reserve Wetlands quite by accident during an evening stroll, and what a delightful surprise it proved to be. The sunset painted extraordinary reflections across the series of small ponds scattered throughout the reserve, creating an almost mirror-like effect that photographers would absolutely treasure. A pair of ducks provided gentle company during my visit, though I'm told they're somewhat elusive residents these days. The wetlands offer a genuinely peaceful escape from urban noise - the kind of tranquil spot where you can actually hear yourself think. There's space for a modest barbecue if you're planning a quiet family gathering, and the walking paths, while brief, provide a pleasant circuit for stretching the legs. It's the sort of understated gem that won't overwhelm you with activities, but sometimes that's precisely what you need. Perfect for those seeking a moment of calm reflection rather than grand adventure.
